Karen Niffenegger showing Whiskey at 9 months. Karen has taken a special liking [to put it mildly] of Whiskey and has graciously shown Whiskey for us. Whiskey loves Karen and has done well for her with two Reserve Winner's bitch placements at Olympia Kennel Club Dog Shows [5 pt majors].
Whiskey at 10 months
Whiskey or Whiskers as everyone calls her is just a wonder dog. She was picked by my daughter at birth [although Mother made her wait until she was 7 weeks old to claim her] she is truly an honor to have part of our Awesome family. I'm very proud to be her co-owner and hunting trainer. Since Whiskers is my daughter's dog I've had a hands off relationship with Whiskey. Because I'm home with the dogs all day and I run them and hunt them its no wonder I have a close bond with each of our dogs. Whitney however wanted to make sure Whiskey was HER dog so I had clear instructions not to lay a finger on Whiskey while Whitney was at school. I abided by this strict rule [for the most part] so Whiskey is truly Whitney's dog. Come June however I needed a dog to run in the GSP Club of Oregon's hunt test. As a club member I like to support the club and there's usually other awesome pups that are there that I like to see and root for! So what did I do? I entered Whiskey. Mind you I hadn't worked with her once. I hadn't even shot over her [I did do some pre gun readiness with her and her littermates]. The first time off the starting line at the hunt test was Whiskey and my first experience hunting together. Just barely 6 months old Whiskey did incredible. She was one of the only dogs that day to find and point birds. She found 3 birds in fact and pointed them very solidly. Braced with her 1/2 sister Lanta she also racked up one very nice honor. Hunting came about as naturally to Whiskey as it can come and I was very pleased not to be made to look the fool!
